The New York Yacht Club, Guinness and Jazz

Today we went to the New York Yacht Club for a great lunch. It was the Friday Seafood Buffet.

Afterward we toured the clubhouse with our host. One of the highlights was the viewing of the Model Room. It really has to be seen to be believed. There is so much history on the walls of the club; it is hard to tear yourself away.

We were there once about 10 years ago with our friends Diane and Chet. At that time Annapolis Yacht Club had reciprocity with the New York Yacht Club and Chet is a member of Annapolis. Just by chance we were seated at the same table for lunch.

Later in the day we walked to Borders bookstore in Columbus Circle and added a few more books to the pile to read on the ship.

We walked back toward Times Square and along restaurant row to check out a good place for dinner. We selected O'Flaherty's Irish Pub. Jeff was happy to have a Guinness and I had a Cosmo. Everybody's happy!
After dinner we headed back uptown by subway to Cleopatra's Needle, a favorite jazz bar which is another hole in the wall place.

If it sounds like all we do is walk around, eat and drink, that is not too far from the truth on this trip anyway.

I know you'll be fine Jeanne if there are books around. The trip to Borders will pay off. Don't forget there will be a library on board.
